Hello.

I wasn't sure whether to put this here or under metal-working?

Don't know if you've seen my post in the Cloud 9 section, but I could really do with either buying or making a stick pin out of silver or gold-filled wire but I haven't a clue how to do it?

I mean do I just use a length of wire, create some kind of loop or something at the top to keep it in place and somehow sharpen the pointy end? Does it need hammering? Would it be dangerous - is there anyway to make it sharp enough to go through fine clothes and put some kind of protector on it - preferably not just a lump of blu-tack ROTFL

If anyone can do this or can tell me how to do it, I would be very grateful. It is all for charity.

begging you please... Daisy

All you need is a bit of wire!

Make a little coil or knot or whatever you fancy at one end, then hammer the other end flat and cut the flare into a point. Finish it off with a file (an emery board works fine) - you can get a really sharp point with no difficulty.

It's worth hardening the wire before you start (a good tug holding both ends will do the trick) and give it a gentle hammer with a nylon mallet to harden further still when you're done.

I've made stick pin ends out of a bullet end cone filled with silicone in the past, though you can buy them I think.

If you run into trouble, I could do one for you if you like?
