SCROLL DOWN FOR LEATHER CARVING!
I like to make this sort of stuff when I get time. I used to carve leather but I will need to find the photos and scan them as it was 'pre digital' when I last got the chance to do any. I used to make fully carved handbags and stuff like that.

I'd love to see some of you leatherwork- get hunting the pics mrs!
Do you think you will have more time to do some now you dont have to man the shop? hope so!

Its strung on suede thonging, really simple to do to be honest, just takes patience! its 2 rows of 4" bones & 1 row of 2". The beadwork on the horns is done on a loom, I did that bit years ago. I never realised that I used to be a 'beader' LOL
I will try and hunt out some old piccys today.
I dont have much more time now as I do alot of promo work for Ebay. Im at a post office in Garston on Thursday if ya get a chance to pop in. As well as that , me shed is full and ive no space to work LOL

Thanks for all your comments
I used to really enjoy leather carving as well but gave it up when the kids came along as its quite involved and takes lots of time. Would love to have another go but ive sold all my tools (oh the joys of being an ebayer lol)
Hope you like this....

I love that handbag. It must have taken hours if not days to finish. Did you buy the bag or make it yourself from scratch????? |

I made it myself from scratch, it was just a plain old piece of vegetable tanned hide to start with.
I just up an old bag to use as a template and took it from there. It's a shame i didnt take a pic of the front of the bag as its very decorative, even the strap was carved from end to end. It took me about two weeks all in all.
I'd really love to take up leather carving again but i have too much on my plate at the moment (whats new lol)
I used to do tapestry & stuff as well but that was pre computer/children days!
