What kiln do you use?

Hello,
seriously thinking of getting a Paragon Kiln for silver clay. Something like SC2 OR SC3

What kilns do you use?
Is yours just a normal door or does it have bead door? (sorry brain is scrammble at the mo Confused

)

I might like to try making beads in the future so want an all round kiln.

If you want a totally hassle free kiln where you can just leave it to do it's thing and not worry, Paragon is probably best, though dearest at about £550+ for one without a bead door.

Having said that I got an excellent kiln from Petra of Silverclay for about £300. It can do everything your basic SC2 can, but you have to set how long and what temp you want it to ramp to if you use that function. For standard firing you just have to be there to manually turn it off when it should go off.

I love it and for a £250 saving I don't mind setting it myself or manually flicking a switch to turn it off. Mine doesn't have a bead door, and has a slightly smaller firing chamber.

I don't do silver clay, but I do have an SC3 - and I love it.

The digital controller means its just so easy to use, and its a nice size to fit on the workbench too.

I have a small Silver Clay Mini Kiln

made by Prometheus. It is a little bit smaller than the paragon SC2 and it does not have a bead door so is no good if you want to done glass beads, also it does not have a built in timer, but then it is only £299.

For Art clay, glass fusing, enamelling etc it is great. In fact it is the same kiln that I have used on my courses at Art Clay Supplies including my level 1 certificate.
