Can anyone give me the go ahead on this from the US. There seems to be more in the kit than Tuffnells.

I would recommend getting your kit from Martin at tuffnells. He is helpful, and fast and any problems he is at the end of the phone. If you get hit for customs you may get a big charge - every thing I have had sent to me recently from the states has had a hefty charge! Postage may be hefty too. If anything goes wrong with your torch you dont want to have to post it back to the states.

Just my opinion Smile

Another thing to consider is the tank fittings, I can't say for sure but the US ones may not be the same as the UK ones.

Looking at the prices there, after shipping and customs, you're better off buying here, Martin does great setups with fast shipping and some of the things you're ordering will not be light.

Plus, if they go wrong, what then? Sometimes a good deal is not as good as it seems when the whole cost is added in.

Hi Mandy
To be perfectly honest you are not getting much more in that kit than you get with Martins Starter kit. I don't use a fibre blanket I just use vermiculite I bought a bag from B & Q and I have only used a little bit out of it in the few months I have been lampworking. As for the workboard I just used an old baking tray to start off with this was just to protect the worktop. ( mind you I still have some burn marks but we won't mention that) I moved onto Bulk a month or so ago and basically with Martins kit its just plug and go no messing or anything, I got the one with the quick realease facility and its fab. Plus the mention of customs charges doesn't always make buying from the states that much better ( I have ordered some presses which I have a horrible feeling have been caught in customs Crying ) Ok now I have bigged Martins stuff up wonder if I can get a discount Laughing Laughing
