on my beaded collar.
I finally got some instructions and how to's. I've got my inspiration and I've got my colour palette. Woohoooo!!!!!
I've been at it for 10 hours today and all I got done was the pattern shape and 3 cabochons beaded. I've also got the most horrendous neck ache.
Gawd knows how it will turn out, but I'm enjoying having a go anyway. See you in 6 months, girls. _________________ LORRAINE

Carol, the book by Sherry Serafini tells you how to make a neck pattern, so I used her instructions for making the neck size and then drew my own shape. It's not a large one, thought I better start small. It's 2½ inches at the front.
Here's my start then...(don't be too cruel ) Red Adventurine, Amazonite and not sure what the green cabs are. Green adventurine or jade maybe?

Oooh Lou, its looking fab already!
I just cant get the hang of beading around a cab, i can do the first bits, then it goes all to pot, then i start swearing at it Oh to be a fly on my wall when im trying to create something that doesnt go to plan hehe.
I love them stones too, very pretty indeedy.

Well, I put 5 hours in today and it's wasted.
My first screw up. I'm sure my cabs are equally spaced, but when I beaded in the gaps I've ended up with a bigger gap on one side, so it would take an extra row of beads. I'm gutted, 'cause I know it won't look right and won't match and have been trying to figure out how I could fix it.
Anyway, I think the only thing I can do is cut the beads off on one side and start again. When I look close, I think one side is beaded tighter and slightly more curved.
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I never thought it would be easy though. _________________ LORRAINE

I'm still slogging away at this.
I'm over half way now, just starting to go up the thinner sides. Still, I'm totally enjoying it. It's so absorbing that hours just fly by.
I still sit for too long though. Over 10 hours yesterday. Maybe I'm so slow 'cause I'm new to it. Maybe a bit quicker next time. _________________ LORRAINE

Dont forget to show us a pic when your done.

Ooooooh, nearly done, nearly done, nearly done (sang to a certain tune, the name of which escapes me, )
I've got my backing on and am now doing the edging. That is, in between the shed loads of other stuff I have to do.
I'm in the mental process of trying to decide whether to fringe it or not now?????? _________________ LORRAINE

Fringing it now.
Still not sure whether it should have a fringe or not, so I may yet cut it off, but I'll probably seek your opinions first.
It took me 4 bl***y hours to bead round the inside neck tonight. _________________ LORRAINE

Hey, take a rest, girl, from time to time when you're beading! Walk about, move your neck so it's not too sore to wear that collar!
I'm so clumsy I find I at least have to pick a few up off the floor but we should be careful not to get too hunched up. _________________ Georgia |
