The entries are all so pretty!

I just got off the phone with the seller for my centerpiece for my necklace. He says it should be here today. So with any luck, I can have the necklace completed and have pictures up by tomorrow! I have class tonight, so I'm not sure how much time I'll have to work on it today; depends on when it arrives!

I decided to go with the making something for very little aspect of the challenge. My entry is called 'From the Button Tin' -though to be more accurate it would be from the button tube I bought at the antique fair. All I added was the waxed cord so it works out at little over £1. I was not sure if it was going to end up looking like something off Blue Peter but am quite pleased with the result.

and an arty picture taken on banana leaf

Oh, that's cute, Mary! I love the buttons!

Here's mine. All of my materials have been or are being used as currency somewhere in the world. Dentalium was a favorite of the Native Americans. Turquoise and coral have been (and, I think, still are) used in Tibet. Gold is used just about everywhere. My original centerpiece was too big, so I used salt instead. Salt was used in ancient Rome to pay soldiers, and is where our English word "salary" comes from. Salt is still used as money in some parts of Africa.

Oh, I forgot o mention the cowries! Money cowrie shells - the kind I used here, white with a yellow circle on the back- were used in India as money.

Love all the entries so far Thumbs up

Well I couldn't resist making a wacky bracelet for this challenge, I've had the idea since the theme was announced but I was waiting for my credit card to expire so I could cut it up Laughing

Entitled.....Cut Up Your Credit Cards & Save Your Pennies.....Obviously it's a cut up credit card and pennies, I added some green and gold beads to represent money (the leaves are saying 'money doesn't grow on trees') and used copper chain and findings. Had fun with this, definitely one not to be taken seriously! Very Happy

This was such a hard challenge to wrap one's head around. I think if something didn't strike you immediately as an appropriate idea you were a goner! All the entries are wonderful. The thought process and creativity is amazing. Such imagination this group has - the voting will be quite tough I fear - especially if one considers all the aspects that the piece is supposed to represent. I Heart them all - great work everyone who entered. Thumbs up
