|
|
Hi All, can anyone confirm that it is perfectly ok to use Solid water/resin to coat beads?
Are there any tips about how to do it?
I have a few new beads that I think would be great with a high glassy shine.
Thanks in advance for any information.

Can't help you there, hun. Never heard of it?????
Sanding and polishing can give a high shine, but you can get proper varnish for it if you want high shine. Clay pit again.
Klear floor wax is also good but the shine isn't 'high glass'. _________________ LORRAINE

Ah, right. Email them and ask, hun. If anybody knows, they will. I'm off for a peek.
Back now.....
Never mind.....yes, you can.
Solid Water 45ml pack
A two part resin that has many uses - for simulating water for miniature ponds etc. but also excellent to use as faux enamel on baked polymer clay or fired Art Clay Silver. Low odour makes it far nicer to use than other resins available. It sets rock hard and crystal clear - or tint it with oil paints to make gorgeous glass and enamel effects. Pack includes syringes, mixing cups and instructions.
So, there ya go. _________________ LORRAINE

YOu can certainly use epoxy resins with polymer clay.
Usually people use the resins in thicker layers to create faux enamel (there is a project to do just this in my second book )
I don't know how sucessful it would be to use them in place of varnish, but sounds like an excuse to experiment to me.
My only word of caution with epoxy resins is to be very careful when mixing that you follow the ratios required exactly. Most resins IME can be quite fussy and will either remain tacky, or appear to dry only to become tacky later, if the ratios are incorrect.

Thanks for the extra info Emma. I think I will experiment a bit. Your book is on my list along with a lot of extra tools! _________________ Hedgelands Glass Gems: handmade jewellery and stained glass. Now select designs available on Etsy -

I've checked - didn't find it. I'm hoping when you make up more of your kits that it might be included. _________________ Hedgelands Glass Gems: handmade jewellery and stained glass. Now select designs available on Etsy -
