I have been aproached today to go into the Big Bead Show 2
it is planned to go ahead on 18th January 2008
Im feeling this is a little quick and not allowing them much time for promotion
as the cost is higher than most Im wondering if they are a bit premature
does anyone have any thoughts on this ? _________________

Gosh that is a bit quick isnt it - and straight after christmas ?
Was there any feedback from buyers about how the first one went ? _________________ Nicky xx

the first show was very successful as far as i can tell from myself and others i have spoken to.
I just can see how they can pull the wholw thing off with ample advertising in under four weeks ???? _________________

I got the same email. They claim they have already filled half the stalls. However it is indeed a bit late. Most of us, stallholders, have booked and planned our fairs for next year by now. I attend the Chepstow one which is on the 26/27 Jan and I think there are a couple of other big craft shows down south around at that time. _________________ Bea

I heard along the grapevine that exhibitors did very well at the Dec one.
There had been month's of advertising for that one though.
They'll have a mailing list of visitors I suppose. The risk is are people ready to buy again so soon after the last one, and just after Christmas before their next pay day?

It's the Make It show in Farnborough which is on the same weekend (18 to 20th Jan) and there is also craft4crafters on 25/26/27 Jan in Telford, plus Bead'n'gems show on 25/26th Jan in Chepstow.
Some retailers who were heavily supporting the first Big Bead show are not advertising if they are attending on the 19th. Poor planning from the Bead mag I think, giving themselves less than 2 months to organise their second show, hoping to cash in on the success of the first show. _________________ Bea

I've just read on the Ashdown Forum that the show has been cancelled and exhibitors are being informed and ticket applications rejected. Apparently they were going to piggy-back on the dolls-house show, but there are issues with numbers etc.

It seems a good idea to cancel to me - it is far too soon after the last one and there was too little time to promote the event properly. If BB2 didn't go well then it might be detrimental to the event in the future.
I attended the first and really enjoyed it but it would have been nice if there had been a quiet area or some workshops run alongside. Any chance for 2008 - or is there a show which combines beads galore and a chance to learn new skills?

I talked with the Organisers on Friday. Not 100% confirmed as yet, but it is very likely the next show will be on November 1st at Sandown again.
I was told they are trying to make it earlier than last year, in order to try and avoid Craft Fairs and enable people time to try and buy things in time to make them before Christmas. Sounds sensible.
My only fear is that after the success of the last show, they will put the rates up for traders...... _________________ Graham

That's a good date, doesn't seem to clash with anything else.
It's a shame they couldn't fit a show before then.
As for the fees, Bead is already the most expensive magazine to advertise with (and I advertise with 4 other crafts magazines, not Bead), so it wouldn't surprise me, they are a greedy bunch! _________________ Bea

I just seen on the bead website, that indeed big bead show 2 will be ob Nov 1st! I so hope I can go, I spoke to my Dad and said if we go to England this year, can we go at the end of October, stay for the show and go home via London Heathrow!! We shall have to see in the future, but the idea is cool! _________________
