Whilst I was attending a fabby Art Clay course at The Little Bead Shop in Edinburgh I happened to mention that I would like to try lampwork so Emma Thank you very kindly offered to show me how to lampwork, I m going on Sunday and I cannot wait, and if I like it - which I am sure I will - I was thinking of using a shed as my workshop, is this a feasible place for doing lampwork? Quite a few people use sheds, Mike started out in our shed too, before moving to a studio space.

Good ventilation, good insulation and good wiring for the kettle are all vital.

I'm in a shed too.
It isn't all posh and dreamy like Nicky's, but one day I will make it so.

Right now it's full of mess and spiders. But they are MY spiders and I haven't the heart to evict them. I was not into them at first, but have grown to love them. They get all angry when I go in the shed and start shaking with rage! My big girl is guarding lots of eggs right now too, so I will have a LOT of spider-babies soon Mr. Green

But yes - sheds are perfectly good studios. Just be sure to lay down the ground rules about spiders from the off.

Emma Daisy

I couldn't do that!!! I am seriously afraid of spiders - even the tiny ones - OH has to remove them for me. I am a big baby for that! Rolling Eyes

Sigh. You are all so lucky - I have the same problem as Dwaa - I have a 3 year old and a 1 year old, and kids and flames don't mix. Plus I just don't have a place for lampworking. I'll have to wait maybe a couple of years before I'll be in a position to do it. Sigh So, I'm pretty jealous. Mr. Green
