I'm gonna order one tomorrow I think, but,
How does the can of gas attach to the bench? This has been confusing me.

I can just see me ordering all this and some vital thing will be missing which I "should" have known about and will end up costing me an extra 50 quid or something!
I thought this with the bulk hose but thats gonna cost an extra 103 whole blinkin quid! When does it stop?

Anyway, a little rant as im abit wary of it cos i dont know what im on about. Confused

This really bothered me too when I started.

You'll need a "G" clamp and and a large ring thing that you can get from a B and Q type place...... would you beleive I've forgotten how it attatches after that! Senilitiy has set in.

Try looking on the Frit Happens Forum. They have all sorts of pictures and advice about setting up and they are really helpful with tips and suggestions. Hope this helps.

Jeanette

You can rig up some jubilee clips and G/C clamps, or you can get a clever little bench holder (which also gives good worksurface coverage). It's called something like a hothead bench clamp - the only difference between the two is the size of jubilee clip depending on whether you're using MAPP or bulk. It's under £20 from Tuffnells. Or you can get a creation station....

On the subject of MAPP - it's generally cheaper from a builders/plumbers merchant (eg Travis Perkins) than B&Q, but it does get expensive. If Martin's bulk kit really is too much for you, you can put together your own for about half the cost if you don't mind doing a bit of shopping around! I think mine came to about sixty quid including quick release couplings, but did involve about three ebay sellers, and a hothead connector from Martin. There is also an ebay shop (cupcake glass) that sometimes has an alternative propane connection kit (imported from the US I think) but it looks like a short hose and has no regulator).

Information overload now?

I would recommend calling Martin and go through your queries/worries with him. Won't do any harm to ask.

I didn't do chemistry or physics and gas scares the pants off me. Luckily my OH is braver than I am!

Mandy if you want my honest opinion I would go straight to bulk and not bother with Mapp Gas cos if you are anything like me it will cost a fortune in cans of gas ( I think I got thru 6 Shocked which considering they cost about £14 works out b expensive. Like George says you can put your own kit together. how about joining FH and get some extra advice from there
