I have been making a spiral (russian spiral?) with two sizes of seed beads and some 4mm swarovskis, I took the basic stitch from a magazine but experimented a little to see what sizes of bead would look best.

My problem; it's taken me ages and I don't really want to take it apart, but it is a little slack.

I plan to sell this, so, shall I just take it apart or, I was thinking I could just tighten the slack bit (a piece approximately 5cm long), by threading more thread through it and tightening it up.

What do you guys think?

I would re-thread it, hun. Just make sure you go through all the beads and a few more too to level it up, or that bit may end up tighter than the rest.

It would be a shame if you had to undo it all. Neutral

you can put a firmer throgh that piece easily-just thread down one way andback up the other-now be careful about where you restart-i suggest youuse a new thread to firm it up and leave the needle and thread you are working with in place and whenever you start a new thread-dont fasten off the old one until you haveattatched the new and are coming out the right bead-then tension each round to prevent the same happening
sorry i amlecturing again-i`ll get my coat ROTFL Heart

I've stitched in new thread to tighten up beading in the past without a problem. Good luck.

What sort of thread are you using? If its Nymo then it will stretch, if its fireline then its your tension!
Maybe if you have only done 5cm you should redo it - especially if its for sale.

I've done more than 5cm, it is just a 5cm section that is a bit slack.

I was using Nymo, does that mean that I will always have this problem?

What is the best thread to use for these sorts of projects?

I will try to tighten, if it doesn't work I will take it apart and start again, it's good practice anyway!

Thanks for all your help

I agree with Pollie, except I use fireline with crystals. I only use Nymo on my practice pieces then I can use it up. Its toto stretchy for me now.

Pre-stretching nymo before works well. It needs a good pull, not a gentle stretch. Daisy

I find that it still stretches, Lynn. I much prefer the new KO thread

Giving it a good stretch has always been effective for me. I enjoy other threads too, but if you have nymo in your stash and want to use it, then a very good stretch does work. Daisy
