I store mine in little plastic grip lock bags which so far has kept them tarnish free.

I have a ridiculously large number of craft mates totes and caddies (with the individually opening compartments). These seem to keep things tarnish free really well. I keep three or four of these for sterling findings, and have most of them in tiny ziploc bags inside these, mainly for ease of finding them quickly as there tend to be different types of the same thing in any given compartment.

Wire is kept in ziploc bags by gauge and hardness.

Jump rings are in yet another caddy by gauge and size.

However, I don't have to worry too much about tarnish as I tumble pretty much every finished piece.

I use the same system for storing beads, except for my lampies, which long ago grew out of their caddies and live in pretty bags in a big artbin container.

Sorry for the ramble, but I am a big fan of these! I have both the regular and large versions Embarassed

Mine are in plastic boxes, each with their own compartment. ( That makes me sound much more organised that I am ) Some are in ziplock bags inside the compartments, some aren't. The ones that aren't in bags don't tarnish.

That's good to know, I'm getting quite a collection of SS findings now and it's a real pain rifling through all the bags everytime I need something, might look at getting some of those storage boxes.

All my loose ones (things like spacers, crimps, clasps and chain) are fine just in the boxes - some of them have been there for quite some time (we're talking years here!)

After trying out various types of boxese and caddies, my findings live in a Greg's Case storage box and its size A, B, C, D babies from

.

When the order comes I tear off a bit of the label so I can recognise where I got the bits from as well, and stick that inside the lid.

The different size inner boxes allow me to swap around as items get used up, and also to swap between my home storage and travelling (Kate's Case) box as I've always got a little box of beads and findings with me (I commute to work by train).

Wire stays coiled inside its plastic bag in my toolbox and doesn't tarnish.

Recently I've found my local Wyevale garden centre craft shop is selling clear lidded boxes of various sizes - e.g. 9in x 4in by 3in deep for about £1 -which are great for storing tubes of beads.

It sounds organised, but I still find myself buying more boxes all the time and my husband sighs they're taking over the house!

Can you ever have enough boxes?

In anticipation of my newest bead order (lots of seed beads) I tidied my bead stash. All the beads where I have only a few went onto my bead soup. I swapped some colours and some sizes round so I had all silver, all green, all red etc in a row. Different sizes are in different boxes....

I spent many a happy hung over hour sorting beads..... what a great day I had.

However, I did find that the compartments I had managed to empty or combine were filled with other beads that had been hanging about in ziplock bags. Now I still have no space for my new beads and they should be arriving today.....

I need more boxes....... I have no space for more boxes...... I need a bigger house....... I spent all my money on beads so I can't afford a house...... It's a vicious circle Mr. Green
