Just received a big order from the US today - and the exchange rate is now down to $1.689 per pound. So, for many importers like us, that means after Duty, VAT and freight, the 'effective' exchange rate is closer to £1 = $1.05! Becasue Duty & VAT is also charged on Freight, that means things cost ~20% moe than 5 weeks ago!
We will hold prices for as long as we can as I am sure many retailers will - but, beware, many US imports are going to go up in price soon, as the increase is going to be difficult for many retailers to absorb.

It's hurting the other way too, some of my co workers are in the USA and they are paid in Sterling, so what is a £1 for us is working out at so much less for them when it's converted into Dollars.
They are having to work even more just to earn what they did a month ago, not all that great when you are basically on piece work.
