The new clay has arrived.....It bakes at 130' for 30mins like fimo. Very Happy

Love the cats!!!!

Fimo now bakes at 110 which is a bit annoying cos although it is usually OK up to 130 if I've got old Fimo to bake as well, it definitely wouldn't be any good baked with Kato which seems to want a variety of higher temperatures - can't seem to pin Kato down to one temp! It would be so much better if I could bake things made from different clays at the same time. Daren't mix them together either.

It sounds as if that new clay will be too soft for caning, but good for what it was designed for!

I quite like some of the colours, but not enough to restock my clay stash. After all I can make the same colour palette by just mixing any colour I want with fleshtone clay like Puppenfimo or whatever.

Is the doll fimo firm enough to mix with Classic for caning etc? There's more than one colour....which is the best "neutral" would you say, for toning down other colours?

I used your tip about mixing with beigey type clay, btw - a very good tip!! Thanks!!! Thumbs up

I am not 100 percent sure I am afraid. I haven't used any recently and I am not sure exactly how the clay came out through all the formulation changes.

The interesting thing is that the Puppen Fimo stocks I have are still bake at 130 degrees.

I seem to recall that the dollmakers wanted a rollback to some previous formulation of the clay, so I am guessing that particular clay was reformulated differently to meet their needs.

One of these days I will get around to trying it again.

I would say that the natural colour, number 44 is better for the mixing though. The rose colour is a tad pinker and not so neutral as the natural.

Hope that helps

Emma

Thanks for your help. I can see what the problem is going to be with the soft. My daughter and friends just had a go with some original fimo yesterday (her birthday party) and we made some beads and some other objects. We used some fimo that my sister had hanging around (like you do - in every colour imagineable!!!!!!!!) Anyway the (get to the point! Confused ) when they mixed colours and rolled them into beads many of the colours just merged into 1 even with the small amount of playing with the clay that they did - so I'm glad we didn't use the soft stuff.

I have taken lots of piccies of what they made. I think its pretty cool and when I get a moment I'll load up a picture to show you all.

Thanks for your help. (i'm bound to be back for some more!!!! Very Happy )
