Hi All

Been down in London for a few days and went to the new jewellery gallery in the V&A. I urge you, if you're near there at any time (it's free to get in) do go and have a look.

I spent an hour and a half in there and didn't manage to see everything. There are 3,500 pieces of jewellery - representing the last 800 years. There are lots of contemporary pieces too.

Some of the jewellery I didn't like at all, some I thought were OK, some were breath-takingly wonderful and two pieces I stood in front of with tears streaming down my face they were SO beautiful. In fact, I well up just thinking about them.......

What a soppy date, as my Mum would say!

Sounds like a glorious way to spend a couple of hours. Thanks for letting us know.

I have a day off tomorrow and this is on my 'to do' list. I hope I get there becuase last time I arrived too late...it never occured to me that the museum would start closing at 5.30pm! I've decided not to go shopping in the West End first, as this was where I went wrong last time! Very Happy

I love the V&A. I've only been once, but spent all day there alone and happy. It was a trip with one of the college courses at the local FE college and I talked a tutor into letting me tag along even though I wasn't on that course. I was blissed out all day - didn't even stop for a coffee - I could've spent a lifetime in that place and still not seen it all. I yearn to go back.

I adore the V&A, every time I get down to London there's a day set aside for it and it alone. I've seen pictures of the new jewellery gallery and I think that I need, not want but NEED a trip there soon.

Thanks for letting us know it's as good as it looks.

The exhibition is fantastic. Absolutely wonderful...I was completely blown away. It started with jewellery in 1500 BC (can you imagine?) up until contemporary. There were so many wonderful peices, I don't think I could pick a favorourite but I thought a cravat made from knitted silver was gorgeous and there were some stupendous tiaras.

However, even though there were not many people when I got there, it was quite warm...no photos are allowed and larger bags must be checked in at the cloakroom.

Do go if you have the opportunity!
