Just thought I would share a part of my learning curve with you all. I bought a couple of cheap IKEA kids paintbrushes to use for varnishing my clay objects and have been quite disappointed with the texture the brushes leave in the varnish
so.....
I spent money on two decent artist paintbrushes and guess what? The difference in quality is amazing....
Lesson no 2001 - you get what you pay for, spend right on quality the first time round!

Mr Moderator always told me the best brushes are from The games workshop, but of course anywhere selling artists supplies should stock a good range of natural bristle brushes.

Absolutely agree! When I started I bought a cheap set from B & Q and the finish was just pants! I visited a local art shop where I paid quite a bit for a paintbrush and was thinking "how much" as I handed over the money but months later I am still using it, whereas the B & Q ones are binned.
So as you say, Lunes you get what pay for and it's worth stretching that little more for something that is going to last.
