Hi everyone,

I'm a newbie to this forum - have been beadweaving for about 2 years, but would like to start adding wire to my pieces. Is there anybody that can give me a few tips on adding maybe basic spirals on earrings. Or maybe easy method bracelets to start.

I'm not usually very good on instructions - need to see what i'm doing

Hi,

I'd suggest you have a look in the wirework section of the forum for starters, there's a lot of info packed into there on books, tools and all the rest of it. I think you're basics are a hammer, pliers, cutters and something to work on (people on here use a steel block, I just use a big metal mallot thingys side, not sure what it's actually called!) and a nylon hammer could be handy for hardening designs up too.

You could also do google image searches and the like on things like wirework earrings etc. It can bring up lots of really helpful technical sites or shops full of inspiring pieces.

I'm sure someone who knows a thing or two will be here soon with some proper information and advice!

Have fun! Very Happy

Hannah

hannah's given you some really good advice

also look in beady mags, they will give you basic wire instructions

Step by Step wire magazine is a good one too and i've got a few simple projects coming up in the next issue of bead magazine that i'd recomend for newbies- intermedate wire skills Daisy

Wow! That's so good!

I get the magazine off my parents once they've checked out their ad so look forward to seeing it!

Have a look at the

site it has loads of ideas and you can do most of them with pliers without a jig with a little bit of practice. See their beginners and techniques pages. That's where I learnt most of mine.
