Hi everyone.

Sadly as Administrator of this forum I have no control over the banner adverts that appear at the top of the screen.

Lately you may have noticed some adverts with content that really isn't very suitable for a family forum, others that do nothing for your eyesight with their bright (flashing) colours ad some that may be generating pop ups.

I have been informed that the forum providers recently switched to a new ad server and this is when these adverts started to appear.

We are assured that they are taking this matter seriously and making every effort to correct it as quickly as possible.

In the mean time please can I urge you not to click on any of these messages. I can tell you you have NOT won a laptop, and if you see a banner like this:

it is NOT a link to your private messages in this forum, sadly it is another one of these "adverts".

Hopefully these adverts will all be gone very soon.

Thank you for you patience.

Happy beading

Group hug

Hi everyone.

You may have noticed in the past that the quality of adverts appearing in the forum, became more noticeable (and annoying).

Because of the wonderful fundraising efforts of the members of the UK Beaders forum, we have now been able to remove these ads and do not envision them returning for the foreseeable future.

If you get any untoward messages, pop ups or other alerts when visiting the forum, we urge you to report them so we can keep a record. It is likely though that these messages are down to something stored in the history of your computer, so clearing your stored personal data should sort out any problems.

Happy beading

Daisy

Fantastic, it's just bliss only having to log in once instead of five times in quick succession because of the popups! Thumbs up

Update

Hello everyone.

I'm sure like me you have all been enjoying the fact that our forum is now ad free.

I have made one small change today that I need to let you all know about.

To be able to provide an ad free forum for as long as possible the adverts will still show up to unregistered browsers.

What this means is that when you come to the UK Beaders forum homepage/log in page you will see the ads until you log in (or register on the forum).

The ads will disappear as soon as you are in, but if you are just browsing the forum (not logged in), are a spammer, or a Google bot indexing the site etc, you will still see the ads.

The reason I have made this change is down to the way the fee for ad removal is calculated.

It is based on how many clicks the site gets, but these include indexing bots, spammers etc, and as we have a very busy forum, our ad-free hit allowance gets used up very quickly! By making this tiny change, it will help the money that has been raised for/donated to UK Beaders to stretch a little bit further!

Thanks for your support, if you have any questions about this, please let me know.

Daisy
