Okay, this is something i'd like to do, but i dont think its possible.
If I have a pewter object and would like to coat it in pmc/ metal clay so as it is silver plated.
I dont sadly know any of the temps that any PMC stuff needs to be fired to - if its above pewter temps (350 deg cel)which i suspect it might be then it cant be done Sad If the temps are lower than that there's the issue of contamination- i'm told pewter and silver corrode each other?
I know its a lot to ask, i hope some one knows the answer though!
Thanks as always...Mark

Hi Mark

Unfortunately PMC or AC does fire at a higher temperature than 350! So no, I don't think it would be possible.

I assume that the pewter object is a particular shape / texture that you like? In which case you could make a mould of the object (using 2 part moulding compound) and push the PMC / AC into the mould to recreate the object. If the object is 3D you can make a 2 part mould and paste the two pieces together (does that make sense!!?)
Perhaps a picture would help!! I made this shell using a 2 part mould:

As you end up with a hollow form it uses less clay too!

If you need any help, feel free to PM me.

Rebecca
