can someone tell me if the mystic topaz in pic
is a man made or not I see lot's of it about
I know the london blue and other blue's and pinks but
but man made or not

I always assumed it was man made as topaz is usually gold coloured, but here:

they say it is irradiated to bring out the colours.

I've been curious about Mystic Topaz and found this on Wikipedia:

"A recent trend in jewelry is the manufacture of topaz specimens that display iridescent colors, by applying a thin layer of titanium oxide via physical vapor deposition; this stone is then sold as 'mystic topaz'."

So it looks like its a man made effect on real Topaz.
